It is Summertime and we recommend getting out there with Family and Friends, From Barbeques to Golf, travelling to a favorite destination, Beach or Lake, hiking, camping or boating, whatever you enjoy doing, just do it. Our office has Summertime ours for that reason, a quick reminder that we are closed on Friday’s until Labor Day.

Some quick fun facts about the month of July:

July is, on average, the warmest month of the year in the northern hemisphere.

July was named after the famous Roman general Julius Caesar by the Roman senate; as it was the month he was born in.

On
July 4, 1776, the 13 American colonies declared their independence from the British monarchy. The 4th of July, formally known as Independence Day, has been a federal holiday since 1870 in the United States of America.

Why Do We Call Bald Eagles Bald?
 

Since Bald Eagles sport a white head of feathers, where did the “bald” moniker come from? It turns out that it was a translation of the old English word “piebald,” meaning “white” or “white-headed.” Additionally, bald eagles don’t acquire these white feathers until they are 4 or 5 years old—with about four stages of feather shedding before that.

 

 

SECURE 2.0 Act Expands Early Withdrawal Exceptions

Tax-advantaged retirement accounts such as 401(k) plans and IRAs are intended to promote long-term retirement savings and thus offer preferential tax treatment in return for a commitment to keep savings in the account until at least age 59½. Withdrawals before that age may be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty on top of ordinary income tax. However, there is a long list of exceptions to this penalty, including several new ones added by the SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022.
