Hard to believe that summer is amongst us and the kids are out of school. My household has recently wrapped up our Spring FCA flag football league for Sully and both kids have been playing baseball and softball for several months already. With school being out, Jess is looking forward to her days with the kids and I’m hoping to try and improve on a golf game that has plenty of room for improvement! I hope you all enjoy your summer and the much deserved warm weather. The Swenson Sponsored 10U baseball teams are well underway for the summer. I look forward to watching these boys compete and represent the company!

The Swenson Wealth Management family welcomed its newest member in April. Zach and Makayla welcomed their second child, Judson Kontz was born April 3rd. Both mom and baby are doing great and Tripp is loving being a big brother.

The roller coaster market has continued into 2022. The combination of high inflation, high wage inflation, and ongoing supply chain issues have investors concerned about the near future. Fortunately, payroll growth is up, wages are up, demand is outpacing supply, gross domestic product is running above average, and corporate earnings have showed continued strength in the face of higher costs. The Federal Reserve has been raising interest rates this year in an effort to reduce inflation. Increasing interest rates curb demand, causing inflation to trend downward. We have started to see costs in some areas trend downward, signaling that Inflation has likely peaked. We expect to see inflation trend downward by year end, but it will take some time to reach the 2% target. In the meantime, we expect the strength of the US consumer and increasing demand for all items to stave off a recession. Looking ahead, a positive outcome in a rising interest rate cycle is fixed income markets become very lucrative. Keep an eye out for future updates on that front.
I know in the past we’ve likely discussed other options outside of the traditional stock bond market. If you feel you need to add investments with a guaranteed element to your portfolio, perhaps now is the time to revisit that. It’s hard to not make decision based on the current emotions, but if you’re feeling anxiety, let us know so when this market comes back, we can discuss carving some off and reallocating a piece into something with less volatility.
