We get a lot of questions on Social Security as part of Retirement Planning. Yes, there is planning and many things to consider, one example is that you have 8 years of choices starting at age 62. And that is just the start as there are many other factors to consider, but you need that information in order to plan. You do have access to your statements and that is done thru setting up an account for yourself online, here are the instructions:

To View your Social Security Factsheet, Earnings History, and Primary Insurance Amount go to: https://www.ssa.gov/

Click “my Social Security”
Click “Create an account”
Click “Create an account” (again)
Click “Create an account” (again one more time)
Complete the “Create your account” page
Go to your email inbox to verify your email address
Create a password
Select authentication method setup & complete the authentication

a. Text or voice message may be the easiest option
b. Enter phone number and send code
c. Enter your security code and submit
d. Add 2nd method or Skip for now

You have created an account with login.gov – Agree and continue
Tell us if you requested an activation code? Select No and click Next
Agree to the Terms of Service and click Next
Complete the “Please tell us who you are” page
Complete the “You can add an extra level of security” page
Complete the “Get your activation code” page
Enter the code and click Submit Activation Code
How can I protect my information? Click Next
Agree to the Terms of Service and click Next
Congratulations, you have set up your “my Social Security” account!
